So I am thinking some type of short circuit might have wiped the drive, if this is the case im thinking booting from a windows cd should show the drive up, but if that were the case now that I got the drive sitting properly in the caddy why wouldn't windows pick it up as an unallocated volume.

That is actually to move the location of the power socket for the IDE drive, at first the drive was not fitting in ther slot propperly but it did spin up for a second even though it was not seated in the slot properly. I am suspecting this is a File System error on the MBR or the Volume Identifier itself, as just prior to this I was attempting to plug it in to the Docking station to format it, and that slide switch on the bottom of the docking station. I can tell this device was made for more than just cloning because it has a Built in Card Reader and 2 USB ports on the front so it's not the wrong device. The only instructions that came with the device are to do with cloning.
